I've been so looking forward to sharing these with you! They were finally delivered this morning by our friendly postie. As you have loved these images so much, I thought I'd make a proper effort and make them into authentic-looking vintagey postcards, by using an old design, scanning and rehashing it just a touch, then popping it on the reverse of my own Parisian lady images. The printers have done an excellent job of bringing them to life. YAYs all round for AwesomeMerchandise!!!
Who could resist scribbling here?
Not me...I couldn't help but imagine a little lady very similar to the ones depicted, using one of the postcards to write to her friend back in London Town:
I'm keeping a stash for myself, but there are some for you too! They're here, in the shop!
Our calendar states that tomorrow is officially the first day of Spring.
I think the cherry tree agrees...
We went for a wander around our capital over the weekend.
Apparently, a famous, and snowy Bridget Jones scene was filmed here. More importantly than that, I was informed by a pretty reliable source, that MarthaOster once worked across the road! ;) I was nice and embarassing, wandering around, taking photos of buildings, being very uncool. Rob pretended he wasn't with me. Hee heee!
This week, I'm pretty excited by these little things - pocket mirrors! Only quite weeny (approx 2.25" or 55mm across) and perfect for your...er...pocket. They'll be rolling on into the shop this week - probably Wednesday or Thurs. I'll keep the goings on at the shop updated at the Facebook page more often than here. I love the outcome of the blog here, whenever I get around to posting, but it's just so much quicker on FB!
I missed the morning by packaging today, was going to take advantage of the lovely weather by gardening when I came back from the Post Office, but the sun has dipped behind a house and a cloud, so I'll paint until school pick-up time in an hour instead.
Ahhh. Think I'll listen to some Librivox Bronte and drink a nice, warm cuppa too.
Hello there! Did the weekend treat you well? We had a lovely trip out to Bodiam Castle yesterday...photos at the end of this post. Firstly, I promised to show you a few more of Wednesday's Update items!
Two new Jane Austen ACEOs!
...and prints of the new (now sold) Lizzie/Darcy painting!
Lots more prints coming soon, too...and more updates here both tomorrow and Wednesday. Woohoo!
Bodiam is such a picturesque place, I found it difficult NOT to take good photos, so all credit goes to the original architects and Nature, not me. Hee hee :)
Inspiring medieval getups!
Koi in the moat. It's obviously cleaner than it used to be when the castle was inhabited!
A castle pixie, which we happened upon!
...and my own version, available as an 8 x 10 print (I'm afraid the original is spoken for) on Wednesday!
Ahhh - this is one tiring day! I realised how horribly dusty things have become around here (how does it seem fine one minute, then you turn around and BAM! The dust bunnies are everywhere, hopping around under your feet, on top of door frames, beding the bed head (sneeze!), so am off play the cleaning elf in a little while. For a quick break, i'm sitting in the front room with my little girl, a steaming mug of coffee, a cheese sandwich and this:
Really hoping it will turn into something gift-worthy pretty soon!
Isn't he gorgeous?! I originally purchased him for Amelia's room, but he has taken to presiding over our living room instead, somehow... Thank you Emily!
Anyway, since I have this comission, I thought I'd buy a copy of the book purely for arty purposes (we have a couple of older ones, but I can't bare to take the pages out!) and have been making up a few of these:
...on which I shall surely paint very soon!
I've also been listening to this Librivox audio of Alice's Adventures and just today this one, of Through The Looking Glass. Lo and behold, the day the book arrived, I received a second request for an Alice comission, having had none in the five years of being an artist full-time. What on Earth is going on?Whatever it is, though, I have to say I'm enjoying it! Curiouser and curiouser indeed...
Other than that, I was glad to see a pack of magenta ink had arrived today, so I got on with a LOT of printing, chopping and packaging and ordered lots more supplies for the forthcoming weeks. Also, i've decided to make a few changes around in the shop, slowly but surely.
You'll see more 8" x 10" prints hanging around (agh! no pun intended!) - it's such a perfect size for popping straight into a frame. Oh and I'll be trimming white borders for you, too. I know that some of you prefer it for framing and do let me know if you'd like to keep them, but those sold 'as is' in the shop, will be without.
I've been wanting more underskirts and petticoats recently. I don't know why. I'm also loving the different textures going on around my knees today!
I love those tights! A tenner at H&M, which is more than I'd normally spend, but wow they do a good job!
Note underskirt peeking out there, and those boots which I snapped up in the Clarks sale last week. Excellent!
Oh and just yesterday, a lovely lady left me some feedback for one of the prints she recently bought from me and included a photo of it, framed beautifully!
I have to say I absolutely love the frame she chose! Thank you so much!
