Tuesday snapshots

Our Quince is bursting into bloom! I love these bright, unapologetic flowers and their spikey armour (spot the spines). Ouch!

I only (consciously) noticed them after working on these two paintings:


Coincidental colour matching? Possibly, but I also just watched (more listened to) a programme about neuroscience and how large a part our unconscious mind notices as opposed to our conscious (the link is here - Horizon on the BBC, but it will only be accessible in the UK and until 17th April 2012).

Free stuff!

Yarn and fluff.

Ahhh - this is one tiring day! I realised how horribly dusty things have become around here (how does it seem fine one minute, then you turn around and BAM! The dust bunnies are everywhere, hopping around under your feet, on top of door frames, beding the bed head (sneeze!), so am off play the cleaning elf in a  little while. For a quick break, i'm sitting in the front room with my little girl, a steaming mug of coffee, a cheese sandwich and this:

Really hoping it will turn into something gift-worthy pretty soon!

Hello!

"The Black Lodge Theatre" background scenery.

So, after a manic few days finishing the Twin Peaks Update, I'm having a day of getting my mind together and attempting to catch up with a few other tasks, which have been patiently (and not so patiently) waiting... Like this:

Chopping and packaging the Jane Austen bookmarks.

Using up all the recyclables I can - mainly for sturdy packaging, to keep your orders safe :) This used to be a GRAZE box. I love that company! YUMS!

On the way back from the Post Office, where I just happened to spot some bargain pink roses!

Brought them home, then messed about with my camera for a few minutes whilst tea was brewing.

What is that round thing behind there?

Oh - that old thing. It's one of these:

We think it's some kind of old mill wheel, adapted to be a hanger for um...hats? I imagine a nice trilby would look pretty good on there. Found in Falmouth, we haven't hung it anywhere yet - it's INSANELY heavy and needs a good, loving wall, where it can be hung, seen and rejoyced in! Yes.

Oh - maybe I should tidy some things - like those boxes which have been sitting in the bedroom, filled with...er...toiletries, clothing, toys. OK. Cup of tea and an hour or two before dinner-making time. I'm on it!

Coastal Annie

Meet Annie!

"Annie of the Coast" acrylic on canvas (5" x 7")

I enjoyed painting the three marine-inspired ladies back in  Feb 2009 so much that I've been planning on painting more ever since.

There will be three more little "Coastal" characters in tomorrow's update. Annie is the first. I love her seaweed Alice-band, which is lamost identical to one Amelia put on a couple of weekends ago when we visited the beach on what I'm pretty sure was the last hot weekend of the year here in Blighty. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a photo, as we werre both in the water, and cameras and sea don't generally mix so well... but I did take these:

Update Tomorrow!

Yay! Been working hard on getting new shop bits and bobs ready. Good job I have my head screwed on today - yesterday I felt as though my mind was floating a few inches above my brain, had a crick in my neck and a completely numb left hand. After a good nights sleep, however, I AM PERFECT! Ahem.

Later today, I'll be putting up some photos of the new items, so keep an eye on us! I'll be posting up links on Twitter and our Facebook page so you won't have to keep checking here.

No soil! I'd love to do this - maybe on a smaller scale..would you still need a pump, or to change the water every couple of days?

I had best go - time to pick up Amelia in an hour and I just have to get more painting done on two little figures I'm hoping to show you next week!
