Vintage Postcard Ladies

I've been so looking forward to sharing these with you! They were finally delivered this morning by our friendly postie.

As you have loved these images so much, I thought I'd make a proper effort and make them into authentic-looking vintagey postcards, by using an old design, scanning and rehashing it just a touch, then popping it on the reverse of my own Parisian lady images. The printers have done an excellent job of bringing them to life. YAYs all round for AwesomeMerchandise!!!

Not me...I couldn't help but imagine a little lady very similar to the ones depicted, using one of the postcards to write to her friend back in London Town:

The Day Before Spring

Our calendar states that tomorrow is officially the first day of Spring.

I think the cherry tree agrees...

We went for a wander around our capital over the weekend.

Apparently, a famous, and snowy Bridget Jones scene was filmed here. More importantly than that, I was informed by a pretty reliable source, that Martha Oster once worked across the road! ;) I was nice and embarassing, wandering around, taking photos of buildings, being very uncool. Rob pretended he wasn't with me. Hee heee!

This week, I'm pretty excited by these little things - pocket mirrors! Only quite weeny (approx 2.25" or 55mm across) and perfect for your...er...pocket. They'll be rolling on into the shop this week - probably Wednesday or Thurs. I'll keep the goings on at the shop updated at the Facebook page more often than here. I love the outcome of the blog here, whenever I get around to posting, but it's just so much quicker on FB!

I missed the morning by packaging today, was going to take advantage of the lovely weather by gardening when I came back from the Post Office, but the sun has dipped behind a house and a cloud, so I'll paint until school pick-up time in an hour instead.

Ahhh. Think I'll listen to some Librivox Bronte and drink a nice, warm cuppa too.

Bodiam Castle

Hello there! Did the weekend treat you well? We had a lovely trip out to Bodiam Castle yesterday...photos at the end of this post. Firstly, I promised to show you a few more of Wednesday's Update items!

Bodiam is such a picturesque place, I found it difficult NOT to take good photos, so all credit goes to the original architects and Nature, not me. Hee hee :)

British travels and new beginnings.

Yesterday, I spent most of the day on the train to pick up Amelia, who had been in Cornwall for the half-term hols. I used most of the train hours pointing my phone out of the window to capture sights like this:

Late Winter. Many freshly-ploughed fields getting ready for planting. So exciting!

Lovely, warm sun through the window and waking up all those little seeds underground.

...and a few sheepies enjoying a munch! I also spotted a load of lambs, but didn't managed to capture them on camera quckly enough. Sorry! Anyway, i'm sure you know what lambs look like by now, so you can imagine them :)

I do love travelling through our English countryside and training it is probably my favoured method of getting around.

One of today's jobs has been to list a few new prints. Originals have sold and these images have been just waiting around in the computer for me to put them to good use, so here you go!

New Year and New Goodies!!

Hope you all had wonderful, cosy and fun holidays. Thanks to our lovely family and friends for putting us up and feeding us!! Here are a few pics of our Cornish Christmas ;) (and yes I have a new phone and I've been playng with the camera apps!).

On one walk, we went down a little side-footpath ans found this cool little fairy cove/ wishing well, covered with offerings! Love it!


Took the kiddies to see The Winter Wood, where we met Old Father Time, The Love fairy, the Fire Fairy (seen here) and many more. Amazing shadow puppet show and hot chocolate too! Fantabulous!! I did forget my wellies, though... :/

Lots of fresh air and adventure, board games and wonderful food - who could ask for more?

Along with the festivities, I found a little time for doodling a few new little things for you and for the shop:

Valentines cards have been printed and I have been glittering them up!

...along with a few little Twin Peaks characters (I love that blog - it has a load of stills from all the episodes, so I can get the clothing just right!)

Coastal Annie

Meet Annie!

"Annie of the Coast" acrylic on canvas (5" x 7")

I enjoyed painting the three marine-inspired ladies back in  Feb 2009 so much that I've been planning on painting more ever since.

There will be three more little "Coastal" characters in tomorrow's update. Annie is the first. I love her seaweed Alice-band, which is lamost identical to one Amelia put on a couple of weekends ago when we visited the beach on what I'm pretty sure was the last hot weekend of the year here in Blighty. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a photo, as we werre both in the water, and cameras and sea don't generally mix so well... but I did take these:

and yes - before you ask, we did go to that Amelie cafe! Unfortunately, I didn't get a good photo while we were there (which, although we didn't plan it, coincided with lunchtime) - there were lots of people around; the outdoors chairs, although they had made an effort to keep them in the same aesthetic style as the movie, were chained down - presumably they had had problems with people running off with them? Maybe they just don't want the hassle of taking them in at night...? Other than that, it was quite sweet - we had coffee and croissant and it tasted good :)

Le Cafe de Flore, Paris

The original Millie sold a little while back, but I'll be making prints in the next few days :) I'll also be working on another original Cafe de Flore portrait today, hopefully to be up in the shop later.

Poor Amelia - she had done so much walking, she was tired, her feet were hurting, but we managed to cure her:

The Eiffel Tower with Marcel et Janelle

I grew up just across the bay from Blackpool Tower. Maybe not generally seen as quite as romantic and now I look at it, pretty stunted-looking in comparison to the Eiffel, but all the same, it's what I was used to, so eventually coming face-to-face with this was kind of mind-blowing. IT'S MASSIVE!

...and architecturally stunning...

I'm so glad we went, and hope that one day soon, if you haven't already, you will too!
